A research lab for robot co-design.
We believe the bottleneck in robotics will shift from control to design. As physical intelligence generalizes across bodies, robots will take on far more specialized work, and each task will need a body built for it.
A robot is capped by its body. No matter how capable its intelligence, it cannot exceed what its form allows. Yet robots today are built body-first: teams start from familiar forms, lock the design, then fit control to it.
Designing body and control together has always been possible, but rarely worth it. Every new body needed its own control, and the space of possible designs is vast. AI changes that. General control makes each new body cheap to control, and autonomous agents make many bodies cheap to explore.
We research how to co-design robots and build autonomous systems that do it, proposing, testing, and refining designs and learning from every run.
We see a future of purpose-built robots, each the optimal machine for its work.
